We have partnered with up and coming Tasmanian Distillery Spirit Thief Distilling Co. to create a whisky inspired by the classic New York Sour cocktail.
Thought to have been first made in the 1880s by a bartender in Chicago, before being made popular by a rival bartender in Manhattan, the New York Sour is a classic bourbon-based whiskey sour taken up a notch both visually and in flavour by the addition of a float of red wine.
Three French Oak Shiraz casks have been married together after three summers of maturation. Transferred to a 100 litre American Oak Bourbon cask, which previously contained Buffalo Trace, the whisky has been left for a further 12 months.
Bottling is scheduled for April with release not too long after.
